Avnet Technology Solutions has announced the launch of VirtualPath University. The program, designed to give partners a greater understanding of the virtualization market, along with the tools necessary to succeed in that space, will be geared to value-added resellers (VARs) in the United States.

According to the company, the new program is designed to shorten the time it takes to develop a functional virtualization practice. The three-day "University" gives partners training on a variety of items, including virtualization fundamentals, current business trends affecting IT, and how virtualization fits into the organizational environment, among other topics. Participants in the course will also receive an interactive toolkit that provides information on the virtualization sales cycle, as well as resources intended to support the practical application of concepts learned in the class.

"VirtualPath University is a key element of our strategy to arm partners with the expertise needed to accelerate their growth in this exploding market," said Tim FitzGerald, Virtualization and Consolidation solutions leader, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, in a prepared statement. "The curriculum includes information and resources that our partners need to develop successful virtualization practices. They'll be challenged in classes with labs and role-playing exercises aimed at helping them execute more effectively when they return to their companies."

The first VirtualPath University course is scheduled to be help Sept. 8 to 10 in Roseland, NJ.
