CDW-G Lands $2.5 Million Government Contract for Second Year Running

10/1/2008

CDW Government (CDW-G) has been awarded a government contract worth $2.5 million, for the second consecutive year. Under the agreement, the company will provide Fujitsu tablet computers to the Air Force Academy's incoming freshmen cadets, as well as faculty members.

According to the announcement, over the last four years tablet computers have proved a beneficial resource for the academy. The technology has provided flexibility that has enhanced the education experience for both students and faculty, including streamlined note-taking, and more efficient delivery of course materials.

"CDW-G is pleased to be a part of the academy's computing success again this school year by providing best-in-class technology that closely aligns with the academy's academic requirements," said Chris Rother, group vice president, public sector, CDW-G, in a prepared statement. "We see more and more higher education institutions selecting tablet computers for their students and faculty.  The tablets' flexibility enables students to use the keyboard for traditional word processing and document management, and to use the write-on screen for more fluid learning in math and the sciences."

According to CDW-G, the company responded to the Academy's call for proposals with the Fujitsu LifeBook T4220, the same computer selected by the Air Force for the 2007-2008 academic year. The system provides users with a 12.1" display, 160-degree viewing angles, built-in wireless networking, as well as a modular bay that accommodates additional media drives or a secondary battery. This year, CDW-G will provide the new tablet PCs to approximately 1,300 cadets and 200 faculty members.
