The United States Department of Education's Office of Federal Student Aid has awarded its Enterprise Development Support Services (EDSS) contract to CSC and four additional technology firms.
Under the agreement, CSC will provide a range of IT services to the Office of Federal Student Aid, including application development, transition planning, project management services, and software configuration management. Additionally, all five firms will be expected to collaborate in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of the Office's programs.
"CSC brings proven service-oriented architecture and Federal Student Aid-specific knowledge and capabilities to support the Department of Education efforts to administer the nation's largest source of student aid," said Tom Anderson, president of CSC's North American Public Sector Civil Division, in a prepared statement. "CSC is pleased to work in this integrated, collaborative team environment to deliver innovative technology-enabled solutions for Federal Student Aid's partners including schools, lenders, servicers and guaranty agencies to operate fairly, honestly and efficiently."
According to the announcement, the EDSS is an "indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity" contract, with a base period of five years, and five additional one-year options. Each of the five companies can earn a maximum of $300 million over the life of the contracts.
