FiberNet Becomes Cisco Powered Program Member

11/24/2008

Telecom provider FiberNet has recently become a member of the Cisco Powered Program. The new distinction gives FiberNet access to a range of Cisco resources intended to help the company expand its managed services business.

According to the announcement, the Cisco Powered Program recognizes service providers offering "high-quality, network-based managed services" built around Cisco technologies. The program was expanded in 2007 to include third party auditing, as well as a "global transaction model" aimed at supporting managed services channel partners.

"Adopting managed services allows companies to align IT and business goals, enabling them to focus scarce internal resources on their core competencies while servicing day-to-day IT infrastructure and operational needs through technology delivered as a service," said Al Safarikas, Cisco senior director of service provider marketing, in a prepared statement. "By achieving Cisco Powered service designations, FiberNet has made an investment in obtaining the training, skills and knowledge necessary to play a pivotal role in meeting this increasing demand."

FiberNet is a One Communications company providing "integrated telecommunications" services to Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The company currently serves more than 25,000 businesses, and 4,000 residential customers.
