Avnet Uses VAR Network To Distribute Pano VDS

12/1/2008

Avnet Technology Solutions--an operating group of Avnet, Inc.--has recently singed an agreement with Pano Logic allowing the company to use its value-added reseller partner network in the United States and Canada to distribute the Pano Virtual Desktop Solution (VDS).

According to the announcement, the new distribution agreement is aimed at providing Avnet's VAR partners additional resources for building "end-to-end" customer solutions. Pano VDS includes hardware and software components intended to leverage existing virtual infrastructure to deliver the Pano solution. Avnet's virtualization practice, VirtualPath, will provide partners additional education and resources for "accelerating partner growth."

"The virtualized desktop is an exciting new growth opportunity for Avnet's partner community," said Tim FitzGerald, who leads the VirtualPath practice for Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, in a prepared statement. "Pano Logic's Virtual Desktop Solution enables our partners to draw upon their datacenter expertise to deploy, manage and support a complete desktop solution virtually. Avnet will assist our partners with resources and the complementary solution offerings needed to successfully target emerging portions of the virtualization market."

Components of the Pano VDS platform include Pano Device, a zero client that uses an existing IP network to connect users to an instance of Windows Vista or XP running on a virtual server; Pano Manager, providing centralized management of the entire system through a Web-based interface; and Pano Desktop Service, linking peripherals attached to the Pano Device with unmodified Windows drivers installed on the virtual machine.
