Journey Education Marketing Acquires Academic Superstore

1/12/2009

Journey Education Marketing (JEM) has recently acquired online retailer Academic Superstore. The deal is aimed at expanding JEM's K-12 and higher-ed market share, as well as enhancing the company's Internet and back-office capabilities.

According to the announcement, JEM plans to integrate Academic Superstore's technology resources to increase operational efficiencies, improve customer service, and lower overall costs. The acquisition will also add Academic Superstore and its family of online retail outlets to the JourneyEd.com Academic eStore Network (AEN). The network consists of more than 15,000 member-stores and includes the Campus Tech, CCV Software, and JourneyEd.com brands.

"The strength of the combined companies in this market made this an easy decision," said Nathan Jones, Academic SuperstoreCEO and new president of the combined organization, in a prepared statement. "We each served the same market, but as we looked at our strengths, it was obvious that together we can really make a positive difference in how we serve the education sector."

According to JEM, the company's Academic eStore Network promotes education-only pricing for technology and software products from a range of vendors, including Microsoft, Quark, and Adobe.
