Scientific Learning Corp. has promoted Andrew Meyers to chief executive officer effective Jan. 1, 2009.
According to the announcement, Meyers's appointment received unanimous approval from the company's board. Meyers will replace CEO Bob Bowman, who has served in the role since June 2002. Bowman will become executive chairman for the company, focusing on "major customer relationships."
"We are grateful for Bob's leadership over the last six and a half years, and we are excited about this transition," said Rodman W. Moorhead III, the company's lead director, in a prepared statement. "Over the past year, we have experienced Andy's skill as a leader in guiding our K-12 sales and operations, and we are confident in his ability to take on the additional responsibilities of CEO."
Prior to the appointment, Meyers served as president and chief operating officer for Scientific Learning. Before joining the company, he spent 11 years with Pearson Education in a variety of leadership roles.
