SunGard has appointed Ron Lang chief executive officer of SunGard Higher Education. Lang will take over for Michael Muratore, interim CEO, who has held the post since September.
Prior to the appointment, Lang served as CEO of SunGard's Enterprise Solutions Group where he held global responsibility for the company's SaaS initiatives. Before that, he served in a range of executive positions for SunGard, including group CEO of SunGard Trading Systems.
"Ron is a proven executive who has successfully managed large SunGard businesses," said Cristóbal Conde, president and chief executive officer of SunGard, in a prepared statement. "He brings to this position a deep understanding of enterprise solutions, consulting services, managed services and has led some of SunGard's key strategic programs. He joins an experienced leadership team at SunGard Higher Education that has strong connections with universities and colleges. Ron has the qualities and experience that will help our higher education customers get the most out of their IT investments during these challenging times."
Lang first came to SunGard in 1998 with the acquisition of Infinity Financial Technology. Earlier in his career, Lang held positions at Sun Microsystems and Apple.
