Maximus Lands Five-Year, Multi-Million Dollar Contract with New York City Schools

Government services provider Maximus has recently announced a five-year, $54.9 million contract with New York City Schools.

Under the agreement, Maximus will provide the district its TIENET special education case management system, allowing teachers to prepare Individual Education Programs (IEPs) online. According to the company, the Web-based IEPs are aimed at helping the district more efficiently address student needs, as well as comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The new system is also intended to provide simplified access to the information for a range of stakeholders including district administrators, teachers, and parents.

"This contract award, which now stands as the single largest program for special education case management, represents an exciting opportunity for Maximus to help improve the educational outcomes for 190,000 students with special needs in New York City," said Maximus CEO Richard Montoni in a prepared statement. "Maximus brings to New York City Schools a successful track record of deploying our TIENET system in over 300 school districts across the country, including large districts such as Chicago Public Schools. We look forward to moving ahead with the New York City Department of Education on the implementation of the new system."

According to Maximus, TIENET will be implemented through the company's Educational Services division.
