Elsevier has announced the recent acquisition of content assets from technical and scientific publisher William Andrew Inc. The move comes after an 18-month strategic alliance with the company that has included electronic and print distribution of William Andrew materials through Elsevier's global network.

According to the announcement, the acquisition is aimed at expanding William Andrew's audience, as well as reinforcing the brand through its association with Elsevier. Upcoming titles from William Andrew and Elsevier include Nanotechnology Applications for Clean Water, Tigers of the World Second Edition, Engineering Documentation Control Third Edition, and Human Toxicology of Chemical Mixtures, among others.

"Purchasing the content assets of William Andrew now is the logical next step in our relationship," commented Jim Donohue, Managing Director, Science & Technology Books, a division of Elsevier, in a prepared statement. "This acquisition adds to our portfolio the strength and depth of William Andrew's data and reference content. We look forward to accelerating the growth of the William Andrew list both online and in print as part of our overall strategic goal of providing engineers and applied scientists with the critical information, intelligence and tools they need to do their jobs."
