Pearson has recently announced the launch of Pearson K-12 Solutions, a professional services group aimed at helping K-12 schools and districts develop "customized educational solutions" to bolster student achievement.
According to the announcement, the company has named Scott Drossos as president of the new group. Prior to his appointment, Drossos served as executive vice president and chief development officer of EdisonLearning. Drossos has also held a range of leadership positions with Apple, Xerox, and Edison.
"The intensified focus on achievement, increasing global competitiveness and the advancement of educational technology is permanently altering the way education is being delivered and received, while creating new, complex challenges educators have not dealt with before," said Drossos, in a prepared statement. "Pearson is uniquely positioned to partner with its customers to help them tackle their most challenging issues and to ensure our children are best equipped to succeed in the 21st century."
According to the company, the news K-12 Solutions group will tap all of the available Pearson resources, as well as third party solutions, in an effort to expand the company's portfolio of offerings to the K-12 market.
