Xirrus has been selected by Toronto Montessori Schools and the Toronto Montessori Institute to deploy its Xirrus 802.11abg+n WiFi arrays to deliver high speed internet access for student and teacher online learning.
Ben Medina, IT director for TMS and TMI, said his schools view WiFi as "a means of furthering the collaboration and learning process," giving access "to online educational programs with mobile labs today and a full blown 1:1 student computer program down the road."
Medina praised the single-point architecture of the Xirrus system, saying it makes overall system management far easier than a multi-point network.
TMS enrolls more than 750 students in a university preparatory education program operated in the Montessori tradition. TMI trains educators to teach in this tradition and conducts childhood development research.
