Dallas County Schools has awarded MDI a contract to begin implementing the first phase of a school safety and security program within school facilities. That includes centralizing safety and security operations into the county school district's headquarters building. It will include the installation of security technology such as infrared detectors, biometric fingerprint readers, integrated time and attendance, and networked IP and wireless video surveillance. Fargo Public School District will be implementing NetSupport School (NSS), a classroom management program that allows the teacher or media instructor to control website access and record computer activities. The district has 14 public elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools, as well as an alternative high school. Enrollment is around 11,000, and district employs about 1,000 people. St. Helena Unified School District (SHUSD), located in Northern California, has finished installing a Cisco IP-based unified communications solution that provides voice, video, mobility and presence services to 1,500 K-12 students, their families, and 250 district employees. The district worked with Stamford, CT-based MTM Technologies on the installation, which replaced a seven-year-old PBX that was frequently unreliable. The project took three months to complete. Palo Alto Networks announced two large-scale deployments of its PA-4000 series firewall. The city of Staunton, VA, and Garland Independent School District (ISD) in Texas have implemented the company's firewall solution to protect their network infrastructure from a variety of security issues, including inappropriate content, malware, viruses, and unwanted applications, to name a few.
